An unexpected turn of events

I went to my GPs this afternoon and thought that it would probably be a good idea to take along a urine sample just in case they needed to check that I really was pregnant.  I've also been feeling like I might have a kidney infection too so I definitely thought that it would be a good idea to get that checked out too.  I had 2 cheap pregnancy tests left so before I went to the doctors I thought ah I'll just see how dark the line is today....I waited....and waited...and the time came that I had to leave for the doctors and no line had appeared.  I started to panic a little but thought that a line might appear when it dried so I whacked up the heating in the car and held the test to it (!!!) but still no line by the time I got to the doctors.  My GP tested my urine for both pregnancy and infection and both were negative....When I told her that I'd had lots of positive tests my GP did a little victory dance and was so so excited for me which was so lovely of her.  She said that either a) my urine is really dilute (it did look it) or b) I am having a missed miscarriage.  She took bloods and is sending that off tomorrow morning as it was too late for today, and I have to go back on Friday to have more blood taken.  Because the only time I could get for the test was before the end of work time, I've had to tell my boss what is happening.  I emailed him at home because I knew that if I phoned him I would get emotional.  I had just the kindest and loveliest reply from him, being very supportive.  I have a big trip coming up at the end of next week and he said that he was happy to do it for me and I shouldn't feel the need to come which is a huge relief.

I went to see two of my Godchildren today and I told the 2 year old that I was going to have a baby (when his mum was out of the room!) and he gave me the funniest look and then didn't seem to know what to do with the information! Just glad that he can't speak in sentences yet so can't blab the news!

So, I'm at home with antibiotics for a possible kidney infection, and an appointment for a second set of blood tests.  I'll get my results on Tuesday when I speak to my GP.
